On 18 October, we reported that prince Andrew had given up his Royal titles. In that piece, we covered speculation on why this happened now, with many believing more allegations were on the way.

A day later, this happened:

Prince Andrew reportedly used the met police to dig up dirt on a sex trafficking victim.

I told @DailyMail that his actions are utterly despicable, using his power and connections to smear Virginia Giuffre. I call for an investigation into his action.https://t.co/vAvb9glGrc

Andrew: more damning revelations

As reported by the Daily Mail, the Metropolitan Police are now probing allegations against Andrew. Reportedly, the prince asked his “taxpayer-funded Met bodyguard” to investigate Virginia Giuffre (the woman in the above photo). While Giuffre tragically died this year, a memoir she wrote before her death is set for release this week.

In the leaked email acquired by the Daily Mail, Andrew told the late queen Elizabeth’s press secretary:

It would also seem [Giuffre] has a criminal record in the [United] States. I have given her DoB [date of birth] and social security number for investigation with XXX, the on duty ppo [personal protection officer].’

In another email, Andrew said:

I’ve just had a short conversation with Ghislaine [Maxwell] and she says [Virginia Giuffre] is a lying so and so… this is consistent with what [Jeffrey Epstein] says. If this comes to the crunch we must have a statement ready

Much like Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell is a convicted sex offender.

Press secretary Ed Perkins responded to Andrew’s email to say:

Indeed Sir. All received. Awaiting their response now. Lawyers primed.

It’s not clarified in the Daily Mail article if the queen herself was made aware of this conversation, although Perkins was her press secretary.

Giuffre’s family have disputed the idea that she had a criminal record. They also said that the new revelations:

expose the lengths to which those implicated try to discredit and defame survivors. The truth will surface and there will be no shadows in which they can hide

Ironically, Andrew could now face a US criminal investigation himself because he shared Giuffre’s social security number without explicit permission to do so. This is in addition to the probe being conducted by the Metropolitan Police.

Speaking further on Giuffre’s personal information, her family said:

We also request a full investigation as to how Andrew obtained Virginia’s private information.

Barrister Charlotte Proudfoot also spoke to the Daily Mail:

This shows Prince Andrew using his connections, including the police who are paid for by the taxpayer, in an attempt to dig up dirt on a survivor of sex trafficking. It is just despicable. It certainly seems like a breach of her right to privacy and to protect her data from being misused. This should be investigated.

Giuffre’s upcoming memoir is said to contain the accusation that Andrew believed having sex with Giuffre was his “birthright”. Giuffre was 17 at the time, which put her below the legal age of consent in some US states, and her legal case against him alleged underage sex abuse.
