Trump to revamp ICE because fascist shock-troops aren’t being fascist enough

The Trump administration is planning a major revamp of Immigration and Customs Control (ICE) leadership. Reports suggest this is because the organisation – whose hooded, militarised goons have been kidnapping people off American streets for months – aren’t hitting targets.

Trump’s deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller wants 3,000 ‘illegals’ caught per day, but ICE are ONLY catching 1,178 per day.

Quite simply, Trump’s fascist paramilitary private army aren’t fascist-ing nearly hard enough. And with mid-terms in sight and legal cases stacking up, Trump’s people want that to change:

Media reports suggest that half of current ICE leaders will be replaced by senior figures from Border Patrol. Both organisations are controlled by the Department for Homeland Security (DHS). Border Patrol are a more broadly aggressive group while ICE are used for more specifically targeted operations.

Different bosses, same shit

Border Patrol’s heavy-handed tactics have lead to a stronger backlash than ICE’s, but CBS report:

Some inside the Trump administration, however, see Border Patrol officials as better equipped to carry out the aggressive and expansive operations needed to reach the ambitious arrest targets set by the White House.

In a speech shared on X Monday, former US Green Beret and Gaza whistleblower Anthony Aguilar let loose on ICE. He said that the increased use of militarised forces inside America showed how colonialism had come home:

He told a crowd:

Trump’s war on migrants, fuelled by conspiracist lies, isn’t separate from the wars of the last 25 years. At its core, it’s merely an extension of the war logics espoused abroad, but at home. And, it’s not just Trump’s authoritarianism. Or a MAGA fantasy made real. It’s a logical outcome of a global capitalist system which reduces human beings to quotas. A system, we note, which every mainstream political party and media outlet in the US is signed up to.
