The charity Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) has created a display showing the names of the (at least) 1,686 Gazan health workers murdered by Israel in Palestine since the start of the latest phase of genocide in October 2023.
In a statement accompanying the video, MAP said:
We pay tribute to the 1,686 healthcare workers killed by Israeli forces during its genocide in Gaza.
These healthcare workers are more than just a number – they include doctors, nurses, paramedics who refused to abandon their patients, even when their own lives were under threat.
Targeting healthcare workers is a violation of international law, and Israel cannot be allowed to get away with this without consequence.
‼The UK must use every legal, economic, and diplomatic tool available to hold all those responsible for these violations to account.
The display, made up of joined posters on a building site wall on a public street, has drawn in and moved passers-by:

In Gaza, Palestine, the number of healthcare workers murdered by Israel roughly corroborates recent expert estimates of a massive death toll of almost 100,000 from Israel’s violence and starvation blockade.
Before the genocide, Gaza had around 4.2 doctors and nurses per thousand people. While this ratio cannot be used to calculate an exact death toll, the scale of healthcare worker fatalities indicates that the true number of civilian deaths is likely above the upper end of the 60,000–100,000 range cited by independent analysts — far above the figures repeated by so-called ‘mainstream’ media.
