Trump seemingly posts explosive ‘private message’ to public account

At 78-years-old, Trump was the oldest man to ever be elected US president. On what we’re sure is an unrelated note, he posted what looks like a private message to his Truth Social platform on 20 September:

It just keeps getting more insane.

Trump apparently tried to send a DM to Pam Bondi essentially telling her that his enemies need to be prosecuted. Instead he posted it on Truth Social, and it’s now been deleted. pic.twitter.com/URZq7mIvVq

“Remarkable public message” from Trump

Several people commented on Trump’s latest message:

If this were discovered in a leaked email and published in the New York Times, it might get more attention. But Trump just tweets it out, and most people move on with their day. This is blatant corruption. Blatant weaponization. It is undeniably an impeachable offense. https://t.co/v4M8w25Be4

He accidentally posted a DM to his Attorney General on Truth Social complaining that not being able to prosecute his enemies over imaginary charges is making him look bad.

I didn’t think the rise of fascism would be this dumb. pic.twitter.com/Cvrj7D8SlG

His message to Bondi follows exchanges like the following:

BREAKING: In an insane moment, Trump confirms that he will use his power to compel Pam Bondi to go after people who ask him mean questions. “We’ll probably go after people like you because you treat me so unfairly.”

Fascism is here, folks. pic.twitter.com/djlxbYfZTI

Trump VS free speech

The Canary has covered Trump’s crackdown on free speech, which has seen the US targeting activists, media figures, and ordinary members of the public. This crackdown may be evident in how media outlets have covered his latest message to Bondi. Most seem reluctant to accuse Trump of posting the message by accident, although Politico did hint at it here (emphasis added):

It was a remarkable public message to the nation’s top law enforcement officer, linking his personal grievances over his own criminal prosecutions and congressional impeachments to a potential decision by federal prosecutors to level criminal charges against his adversaries. Trump’s frustration stemmed in part, he said, from “30 statements and posts” from allies that complained “nothing is being done” to punish his longtime rivals.

Trump has given the media good reason to tread carefully, as he’s launched lawsuits against ABC News, CBS, and the New York Times, with the first two settling for millions.

This is what authoritarianism is about: government silencing dissenting voices.

Colbert. Kimmel. $15 billion lawsuit against the New York Times.

Too many people have fought and died to defend freedom. We won’t let Trump take it away.

— Bernie Sanders (@BernieSanders) September 18, 2025

A judge has now thrown out the New York Times case, stating:

a complaint remains an improper and impermissible place for the tedious and burdensome aggregation of prospective evidence, for the rehearsal of tendentious arguments, or for the protracted recitation and explanation of legal authority putatively supporting the pleader’s claim for relief.

We have no idea what this means either, but presumably it translates to ‘case no good’. The following is a bit easier to understand at least:

🚨🚨BREAKING: A federal judge in Tampa has tossed out Donald Trump’s $15 billion lawsuit against the New York Times, writing:

“The complaint is decidedly improper and impermissible.”

Going off the following, the president is struggling to understand too:

TRUMP: That’s why I sued the New York Times two days ago for a lot of money

KARL: A judge just threw that out

TRUMP: I’m winning. I’m winning the cases. pic.twitter.com/svLZbTuQR4

Crack down

Of course, the big story isn’t that Trump is seemingly too old to text; it’s that he’s launching an authoritarian crackdown because ‘posters’ accused him of being “all talk, no action”.

We agree with Trump that “JUSTICE MUST BE SERVED”; we just don’t think he has any idea of what that would look like in practice.
