Internet celebrity ‘Big John the Boshfather’ has visited the Dragon House take away in York to show his support:

Big up John, he kept his promise and visited that Chinese takeaway that got vandalised with hateful graffiti telling them to go back home.

People are celebrating Big John’s visit as a positive example of what community looks like.

Big John: bosh

Anti-migration goons vandalised the Dragon House take away back in September:

They tried to frame this as “patriotism“.

It is mindless vandalism.

In the video of him visiting the take away, Big John says:

Right, we’re at Dragon House in York. A few weeks back it got defaced, and I said when I was in York I was gonna come give them a bit of custom.

I’ve got nothing against anyone putting flags up. I’m patriotic myself. But when it overspills into hatred towards people that have worked here for a long time, that’s when it’s wrong.

You’ll notice this is a lot more human-sounding than Keir Starmer has managed to be when trying to convey the same message:

I’m proud of our flag as a patriotic symbol of our nation, like lots of people I’ve proudly got one up at home.

Using our flag to divide devalues it.

— Keir Starmer (@Keir_Starmer) September 1, 2025

Big John has two key advantages over Starmer here:

  1. He isn’t the least charismatic person in the world.
  2. He isn’t trying criticise racist behaviour while simultaneously enacting racist policies.

Big John continued, making his way into the takeaway and promising to give them a “big bosh”:

Look at this – proper old school. Now we’re not going to have a big order because I’ve already had Chinese today, believe it or not.

The Boshfather then proceeded to order his food, later posting the following pics with the staff:

Dragon house York. Support these local business. Hard working people who should be respected always. Was great food too. Bosh. pic.twitter.com/fZt9bmfdRk

People celebrated him online:

We are all Big John 🫶🏽 https://t.co/4ghFU3oS6P

It shouldn’t take @Johnfis08605918 to be the voice of reason to what being a decent bloke is.

Fly a flag. Fine. But never disrespect working people.

A working class hero is something to be.

Big John boooshhhhh

Flag mania

As we’ve reported, this was happening at the same time that people were raising flags as part of Operation Raise the Colours. The problem with this ‘operation’ wasn’t the flags themselves but the people organising it, as HOPE not hate reported:

HOPE not hate can reveal that the co-founder and organiser of the group is longtime Stephen Lennon (AKA Tommy Robinson) ally Andrew Currien (AKA Andy Saxon). Formerly a key member of the English Defence League’s leadership bodyguard team, and now running security for the far-right party Britain First, Currien has previously been jailed for his part in a racist death. He was one of six men convicted in 2009 after a 59-year-old man was crushed to death by a car following a violent brawl.

While it’s possible for someone to raise a flag without being racist, the fact of the matter is this stuff is being driven by the far right, and they wouldn’t be driving it if they didn’t think it supported their agenda. This agenda is a lot worse than you may realise too, with speakers at the ‘Unite the Kingdom’ rally including Generation Remigration. If you’re unfamiliar with the term, ‘remigration’ is a plan to deport everyone who isn’t white British. We’re sure lots of people at the rally would agree that’s a step too far, and yet that’s the beat they’re stepping to.

Big John bosh populism

There’s a discussion to be had about whether you can ever truly have a positive form of English patriotism given our history. Regardless of what the answer is, you can definitely have individuals who feel positively about England without using it as an excuse to be a dick to the non-white population, and Big John is showing what that looks like.
