Demoted Reform councillor accuses Labour of ice cream smear

On Monday 27 October, the police finally cleared Reform councillor Joseph Boam of committing ice cream malfeasance. As you’d expect, a triumphant Boam got his podium out to announce all this to a waiting British public:

Labour’s desperate ice cream hoax flops – they simply can’t beat Reform UK at the ballot box! #IceCreamGate pic.twitter.com/qjwtNrH6Nz

— Cllr. Joseph Boam – NWL Reform (@Joseph_Boam) October 27, 2025

There’s a problem, however, and it’s that his announcement has given the haters an opportunity to highlight his other scandals:

Lets look at Joseph Boam:

He was dropped as Deputy of Leicestershire Council, described by the Leader as ‘not up to the job’.

He was dropped as Leicestershire branch chair the same time.

He misled Whitwick residents about a local bus route.

He said depression isn’t real.

Not so chill now

In the video above, Boam says:

Good evening folks. Now would you look at this. This is a letter I got from the police earlier today and it says they’ve chucked out the entire daft investigation claiming I allegedly bribed voters with ice cream, of all things, on voting day.

There we have it, folks.

He certifiably did not bribe voters with ice cream; he simply appealed to them with his broccoli-cut swagger and slightly-too-large suit.

Boam continued:

And I’ll tell you why they chucked it out, because it was absolute nonsense. It was a sham from the get go and more than obviously a dirty smear to try to drag me down. And I tell you what, it’s falling apart. It was always about to fall apart. And here’s the real kicker. I can actually reveal it was the Labour Party behind this entire charade. They’re absolutely scared stiff of Reform UK. They simply can’t beat us at the ballot box. So they resort to these dirty tricks and games.

To be fair, we certainly wouldn’t put it past Labour – especially not since Paul Holden’s book The Fraud exposed Keir Starmer’s shady path to power.

If Labour did perpetrate this smear, it would be ironic given the 2016 Labour leadership challenge when Owen Smith dished out free ice cream to a handful of supporters:

— Tory Fibs (@ToryFibs) July 30, 2016

Is it too late to open a case on Smith?

It’s unclear where Boam filmed his podium announcement, but people have speculated:

Potentially his mum.

Oh, and one final point – in his new video Boam complains that Starmer refers to Reform as “fascists”, but he pronounces it ‘fassists’.

This… isn’t correct.

But if nothing else, it is at least reassuring to know Boam is no scholar of mid-twentieth century far-right politics.

Cold comfort

Getting back to Boam’s other scandals, the Leicester Gazette covered that Boam was sacked as deputy leader in August:

The former deputy leader of Leicestershire County Council “wasn’t able to do the job” according to the authority’s Reform UK leader. Councillor Dan Harrison broke his silence after a week which has seen Reform accused of presiding over a “shambles” in the wake of Joseph Boam’s departure from two key council roles.

Speaking to the local democracy reporting service (LDRS), Harrison said removing Whitwick councillor Boam from his deputy leader and lead member for adult social care positions had the “overwhelming” backing of his fellow Leicestershire Reform members. He also claimed that the 22-year-old was “struggling with the understanding” of the “tough” and “demanding” adult social care role.

Sacking him because he had no clue seems a bit harsh in our book; arguably you could even call that ‘fassism’.

Sacked from both positions he held on the Council this is the level of performance art he thinks appeals to the public https://t.co/URkEMnsk7z

— dave lawrence 🐟🐟🐠 (@dave43law) October 27, 2025

When asked how Boam got the adult social care role, Harrison said:

He wanted it, he wanted it. That was the biggest job, so he said ‘I’ll do that one’.

Oh, okay.

Good to see they’ve got a practical way of assigning tasks over there.

This is what Boam said at the end of his podium speech, by the way:

We’ll bring back common sense and pride in our country.

While it’s debatable Boam has the abilities to bring back either of these things, he did at least pronounce ‘common sense’ correctly.

Reform in freefall

Reform Exposed also drew attention to the Reform councillors who have been suspended, kicked out, or defected:

If you don’t think this is a long list, please bear in mind:

  1. You have to click ‘see more’ to get the full thing.
  2. Most of these people have only represented Reform since May this year.

Yeah, so it’s not going well, is it?

At this rate, free ice cream might be their only path back to power.
